By bus from Trento

Bus schedules are displayed at every stop. Stop names are shown on bus stop placards. Tickets can be purchased at newsstands (the cost of a ticket is E1.20). Get them before boarding.
Schedules and fares are available at the Trentino Trasporti web site. Notice that on September 10th timetables will change.

This is the fastest route up the hill from the city center. The trip lasts about 10 minutes. Board at the “Piazza Dante” stop in front of the train station. Some buses finish their route in front of FBK (the stop is called "Polo Scientifico"). Some other buses take a different route. In this case, get off at the “Povo – Piazza Manci” stop and walk 100m down the hill; you will easily see the back of the large FBK building (grey with blue windows) surrounded by a light blue gate.

Getting to FBK Science and Technology Site from the city center takes much longer on this bus, but it might be useful if you are in the southern area of the city. Get off at the “Povo – Piazza Manci” stop and walk down the hill to get to FBK; you will easily see back the large FBK building (grey with blue windows) surrounded by a light blue gate.

By Taxi from Trento

Find one just outside the train station at the taxi stand to the right as you exit. Or call Radio Taxi at 0461 930002. The cost is 10 to 15 euros.

By car

FROM THE SOUTH
Trento Centro Interstate exit has been closed. To get to the FBK Scientific and Tecnological Hub in Povo, take the TRENTO SUD exit and follow directions to Villazzano-Povo (FBK is located at about 6 km from the Interstate exit).

  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit (tutte le direzioni);
  • At the next roundabout, take the 4th exit (Via Ragazzi del '99/SS12);
  • At the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit (Via Edmund Mach);
  • At the next roundabout, take the 1st exit (Via Clorinda Menguzzato Veglia);
  • Go ahead for about 400 meters, then turn right following the signs to Vicenza (uphill road);
  • At the next crossroad, turn left (Trento Centro direction);
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit;
  • Go ahead following signs to Povo for about 2,5 km;
  • Once at Povo, at the roundabout take the 2nd exit (Via Sommarive);
  • In about 400 meters, on the righthandside, you will find FBK's site, blue fence; the entrance is on the right. Please stop at the gate on your right and ask the officer at the Porter's Lodge to open the gate to the parking lot.

FROM THE NORTH
Trento Centro Interstate exit has been closed. To get to the FBK Scientific and Tecnological Hub in Povo, take the TRENTO NORD exit and follow directions to PADOVA, entering the beltway.

  • As the road start to go up, before the tunnel, follow signs to TRENTO EST (S. Donà etc.);
  • In about 14 Km, you will run into a tunnel, go past the tunnel and take the 2nd exit at the roundabout (follow signs to Povo, downhill road);
  • At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit following the signs to Povo (drive through the bridge);
  • After about 2 km, at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit.
  • In 400 meters you will see FBK's Site on the righthandside of the road, blue fence; the entrance is to your right. Stop at the gate to your right and ask the officer at the Porter's Lodge to open the gate to access the parking lot.

By train

Train tickets can be purchased at the railway station. Italian train tickets must be stamped using the yellow machines available at the platform (binario) entrance before getting on the train. When buying your ticket you should specify the arrival station (Trento), the train you are planning to take (some InterCity trains require a supplement that is more expensive if purchased on the train) and the class: 1st (prima) or 2nd (seconda). First class is more comfortable and about 60% more expensive.

By Air

The closest airport is the international airport of Verona Catullo (VRN). The airport offers connections to the major European destinations, including the international hubs of Frankfurt, Paris, London Gatwick, and Rome, and some low-cost flights (RyanAir from Frankfurt and Bremen; Transavia from Amsterdam; Germanwings from Berlin, Bonn and London Stansted). Verona is about 1 hour away by train from Trento. For tickets and timestamps see Trenitalia (from Verona to Trento). Please, note that the last train to Trento leaves at 22:47 from Verona station, so be prepared to spend one night in Verona in case your flight arrives later. From the Verona Catullo airport to the Verona railways station an Aerobus service is available every day every 20 minutes (tickets can be purchased in the bus).

The international airport of Milano Malpensa (MXP) can be considered to reach Trento (it takes about 3.5 hours to get to Trento by train). From Malpensa airport take the Malpensa Express train into Milano, Stazione Nord (prices and timetables Malpensa Express). Once there, take subway line 2 (green line) to reach the Central Train Station (prices and timetables ATM-MI public transportation). Then, from the Central Train Station in Milano, to reach Trento, take the train (prices and timetables FS train).

The international airport of Venice (VCE) can be considered to reach Trento (by train it takes about 2.5 hours). The Venice airport is well connected to the city by public transportation lines (water and land) and to the railway station in Mestre. The international airport of Munich can be considered to reach Trento. Trento can be directly reached by train from Munich (from Munich to Trento it takes about 4.5 hours).
